I know my comment is coming 2 years later, but first off, I recently beat Chrono Trigger in its' entirety including all of the side stories when you can just go straight to battle Lavos. Since it's fresh in my mind, I think you bring up a lot of points. I agree that a lot of the side quests pre fighting Lavos really shape the overall story and enjoyment of the game. Plus like you said, a lot of it is very existential. I do think that hindsight is 20/20, and when people say Chrono Trigger is mediocre, you have to remember when it was released. I think what you didn't mention, was to my knowledge, I think it was the first big game that dealt with time travel and multiple timelines. So it was innovative in that regard. Lastly, I would argue that to your point of the game being more about 7 characters rather than just 1 main protagonist, I would say that it's about all the other characters NOT Chrono. In a lot of ways, Chrono is just kind of a figure that drives the story along. He doesn't really shape it much other than moving it along. Really, the bulk and meat of what makes the game great is learning the stories of everyone else and how it comes together. Either way, great video. Thank you for this.

Hey Max I'm sure you probably won't read this, but I want to ask you if maybe you could make another video explaining as many benefits of video games as possible, I'd so tired of the idea that video games are bad, and have no value, I really want to explain to people that video games can be a fantastic thing tat can help people, video games are the greatest art form to ever exist, it incorporates all other forms of art in 1, visual, story telling, music, poetry, and so much more, it also helps teach and make life lessons stick, and philosophy, and ideas, and gives great examples of some ideas taken to an extreme, and a most likely outcome from ideas, I'm sure you can tell just by reading this, I'm not great at putting things into words, and explaining things, but i know you are, so I'm asking for your help, not just for me, but for everyone

One thing I've learned in the many gaming communities I've been apart of is that the ones driven by nostalgia will never be satisfied with a remake no matter how faithful it is to the original. Fans of these series aren't looking so much for a faithful interpretation of a beloved classic but more so looking to capture the feeling they had of that first playthrough. The harsh truth is we will never experience that again. The pain of nostalgia comes from the fact that the experience we cherish was the result of the intersection of a very specific time and place that will never come again. No matter how perfect the remake is we will never have that same feeling again. The more you look for it the more disappointed you will be. I instead hope for the remake to be a faithful interpretation of the original, not for myself, but for those out there who never played the original. I want them to feel what I felt then.

Idk if this counts as synchronicity but one of the most vivid dreams (or I guess nightmares) I ever had ended with the discovery that my stepfather was having an affair on my mother. I was only 10 years old at the time. The dream overall was very strange and I still can't make much sense of it. I remember watching some men try to fit a refrigerator into the kitchen but they couldn't get it to fit. My mother was in the upstairs bedroom just watching tv not saying a sound which scared me. But the discovery of the affair was made all the more eerier when I found out soon after that my mother and stepfather were splitting up for reasons of infidelity on his part. I keep trying to remember if I saw or heard anything that would make me suspect him having an affair but there was nothing prior to that dream. We've all moved on since then but that dream still haunts me to this day.

I find this take incredibly interesting. I have a view on faith, that many of my fellow Christians either reject, or are incredibly disturbed by. Faith is belief without evidence/proof (this should probably be caveated as "material proof"). When you have proof, it moves from faith to knowledge. We even see this point hinted at by Christ in the book of John: "Then Jesus told him, 'Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.'" (John 20:29, NIV) It is good to see and believe, but it is blessed to not have seen and still believe. This seems to be the essence of faith. When I look at the entire Bible, those who are lauded for their faith, believed without requiring proof to believe. In another gospel, Jesus is amazed at the faith of a gentile centurion: "10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. ..." This was because he had believed if Christ said his servant was healed, it would be so. The centurion refused to have Christ come to his home because he felt he was unworthy, and was willing to take Christ at His word. Again, this is an amazing framing of what faith looks like. Hebrews emphasizes the importance of this belief: "And without faith it is impossible to please God, ...." (Hebrews 11:6, NIV) The idea that moving from faith to knowledge resonated with your description. It's not that I would expect you to believe what I believe, but I find it incredibly interesting about how two very different sources might reflect a similar truth.

I remember when I was a kid and I saw a second hand game at the store and the game costed $120. I was wondering why the game is so expensive. That game was Ico.

I remember going through the game when I was 8-10 years old. At 13 I revisited it with the help of gamefaqs in order to beat it easier. In my search through the internet for help, I remember stumbling across a website that explained the story of the game. The title of said page was something along the lines of "Chronno Cross and Quantum Physics". It was my first approach to quantum physics at the age of 13. This helped me understand the story of the game, althought vaguely because it's so convoluted. After many years I understood that this game raised me in a way that is comparable of what my parents did to me. It made me understand fate, love and life. Not going to say it did in a healthy way but the impact it had on me can't be overstated. Because this is a "sequel" to chronno trigger, it's very hard to enjoy both games. People that played Trigger frist tend to hate this game, and people who played Chross first tend to hate Trigger. And I think this is beautiful since it encapsulates the love-hate theme of this game Your video helped me understand why I became an existencialist at such a young age. This game changed me. Again, can't say it was for better or worse, but I know for sure I will always have this story in my heart, until the end of time

I don't understand this anime. I don't understand what role Johan played; as the ultimate evil? evil of all evil? Nearing the end fo the anime I thought there will a revelation to the root of Johan's darkness but instead we are told that his twin sister was the one taken to that mansion and witnessed the death of 42 people. Before that I thought it was the orphanage that turned him into this "Monster" but again it was revealed he was already a dark child prior to that. So I'm not sure what this show is trying to tell its audience. I thought it was about humanity's capacity of darkness by the existence of Kinderheim 511, or the experiment done by Franz Borntoparty but well apparently Johan is worse than those two I mentioned. Why is that? Why is he so evil? Was he simply born evil? Is this show trying to tell the audience that some serial killer simply can't be understood?
